Diploma of Children's Services

My personal  and teaching philosophy...

It was after I had my child that I realized teaching young children is my passion.  As I studied privately through books and the internet, I developed a strong interest to work as an early childhood educator. In 2013, I completed Certificate III in Children’s Services and started working as an educator at Fox Street.  It was not long after this that I was offered a traineeship position to study the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, which I completed in 2016.

Being an educator from another country has given me the opportunity to introduce my culture to the Fox Street children through a variety of experiences.  As a person who speaks English as a second language, I strive to help children positively accept the differences and similarities with others.

A Japanese proverb says “a three-year old’s soul lasts for a hundred years”.  Reflecting my childhood, I believe this proverb rings true.  A child’s development at an early age is very significant in determining the type of adult they will one day become.  As a young child who developed a strong disposition for learning through play, I see value in such play.

I believe it is my role as an educator to follow children’s interests and support them when they explore, create, express themselves and build resilience.  I also believe it is important to collaborate with children’s families so they can reach their full potential.  I believe in early childhood education because we promote children’s development in many areas including, having a positive disposition for learning, a sense of well being and a positive relationship with others.  Each learning experience we provide to children will hopefully foster the skills they need in their life.
