My personal  and teaching philosophy...

I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be a teacher.  Unfortunately that didn't happen for me straight after school, so when I was in my early twenties, I became a carer for a little 9 year old boy with 'Spina Bifida'.  I took him to school and after school care at one of the local community preschools, and it was here that I was offered a trainee ship to study my Certificate III Children's services.  I worked and studied for the next few years, finally completing my Diploma.  It was not long after this that I decided I was ready for a new challenge, I completed my Diploma of Youth Work and began working for the Department of Communities (Child Safety).  It was here that I found my passion for working with children and their families in crisis.  I moved on to other case and youth work roles within Mission Australia and strived to help as many people as I could.

Fox Street Preschool offered me a place to reconnect with my ability to guide, support and teach young children.  The fox street way always provided a platform for the educators, children and their families to build a strong foundation of independence, creativity, meaningful relationships, inquiry and play based learning that enabled them to reach their full potential in all areas of development.  Becoming the Director of such an amazing learning environment was by far one of the most satisfying ventures for me to accomplish within my career.  I feel blessed to have the opportunity to guide and support a team of exceptionally strong, educated, inspiring and connected educators.

I have always lived by the words, treat people the way you expect to be treated.  For me this is to be optimistic, open, respectful, non judgmental, thoughtful and able to step back and take a look at things from a different perspective.

'The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see'
